Vast In-House
Capabilities

Relucent’s laser processing facility, located in Santa Rosa, CA, is vertically integrated to provide the technology resources for rapid product development and mid-volume manufacturing.

Laser Cutting

Relucent’s laser cutting capabilities enable the creation of highly complex, ultra-precise geometries in thin-wall tubing and wire critical for minimally invasive medical devices.

Using tightly controlled laser parameters, we cut features with exceptional dimensional accuracy while minimizing heat-affected zones and material distortion. This allows for consistent mechanical performance, especially in shape-memory and super-elastic alloys like Nitinol.

Laser cutting is commonly used for:

  • Vascular and neuro stents
  • Hypotubes and micro-tubing
  • Structural implant features requiring tight tolerances

Why it matters:
Precision laser cutting directly impacts device performance, fatigue life, and deployment behavior. Our in-house expertise ensures designs are optimized not just for geometry, but for manufacturability and repeatability at scale.

Relucent specializes in precision wire forming for complex medical geometries, particularly in nitinol and stainless steel.

Laser Welding

Relucent’s laser welding capability enables precise, localized joining of small and delicate medical components with minimal heat input and distortion. The process is well suited for applications that require strong, repeatable joints without compromising surrounding material properties or dimensional accuracy.

Laser welding is commonly used to join thin-wall tubing, wire components, and micro-fabricated metal parts in assemblies where traditional welding or mechanical joining methods are not feasible. Tight control of energy input allows for consistent weld penetration and joint strength across a range of medical alloys.

Why it matters:
Why it matters: Joining processes directly impact device strength, reliability, and long-term performance. Laser welding provides high-quality, repeatable joints while preserving critical material characteristics, making it ideal for precision medical components and assemblies.

Laser Marking

Relucent provides permanent, high-contrast laser marking designed specifically for medical traceability and regulatory requirements.

Our laser marking process creates dark, durable marks without compromising material integrity. Marks withstand sterilization processes, including repeated autoclave cycles, and can be selectively removed or re-marked if needed.

Common uses include:

  • Lot and serial numbers
  • Part identification
  • Logos and orientation indicators

Why it matters:
Clear, permanent identification is essential for traceability, quality control, and regulatory compliance. Our medical-specific marking ensures readability without introducing stress risers or surface damage.
